The church is
dedicated to Eloïse Martorama, founded in 1194 where here was
first a Benedictine couvent whose this church was the vault.
It was started in 1143 with George of Antioche, admiral of the fleet of
Roger II.
Its true name is St-Mary of Amial (Santa Maria dell' Ammiraglio). The
lines of Norman style of the frontage are in great parts hidden behind
the frontage baroque which is posted on the Bellini place.

The interior
is divided into two distinct parts. The first two arcs having been
added in the XVIth century, they are distinguished from the old part
with its mosïc iconographic Byzantines.
